Scottsdale’s Dog-Friendly Spots

Did you know that Scottsdale was ranked the number-one most pet-friendly city in the U.S. according to a 2024 study by WalletHub.com? Locals bring their pups just about everywhere, thanks to the dog-friendly attitudes of so many businesses and ample walkable spaces around the city. And visitors can rejoice knowing their dogs will be welcomed with open arms, so feel free to skip the additional cost of a pet sitter and instead pack an extra bag for your pooch. Here’s a list of some of Scottsdale’s most dog-friendly spots, including restaurant patios, dog parks and walking trails.

RESTAURANT PATIOS

Healthy and sustainable Farm & Craft in Old Town Scottsdale features farm-fresh ingredients and refreshing cocktails crafted by mixologists. Pups can indulge in a fresh chicken and grain Dog Bowl on the patio.

Old Town’s Brat Haus welcomes people and doggos on their sunny patio, which is filled with lawn games to keep everyone entertained. While you dine on house-made brats and imported beer, your furry friend can chow down on the just-for-dogs Pork-n-Chicken Haus Brat.

O.H.S.O. Brewery uses spent grain from its craft brewing process to make homemade biscuits, so you and your dog can enjoy a treat while you kick back on the temperature-controlled patio with a beer and great happy hour deals surrounded by other pet companions.

At Morning Squeeze in Old Town Scottsdale, you can enjoy classic breakfast items while your furry friend dines on the Tail Wagger menu and house-made doggy biscuits.

Located on the Scottsdale Waterfront, Olive & Ivy Restaurant and Marketplace serves Mediterranean fare for people while pups can chew on complimentary bones fresh from the marketplace, all while soaking up the sunshine on the spacious outdoor patio.

DOG PARKS

Chaparral Dog Park is the city’s most popular, with three acres of grass, benches, play features, and water fountains. There are two separate areas for large and small dogs.

Horizon Dog Park is a smaller option located in a retention basin on the far west end of Horizon Park. You’ll find a shade structure, a water fountain for you and your dog, and a water feature to control the dust.

At the half-acre Vista Del Camino Dog Park, expect some shade trees, benches and water fountains. Leashed dogs are also welcome throughout the larger park area and a walk to the lake is lovely.

DOG-FRIENDLY PARKS AND WALKING TRAILS

Dog at McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Grab your pup and take a stroll on the paved path through Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt, a sanctuary of parks, lakes, paths and golf courses spanning 11 miles through the heart of Scottsdale.

The McDowell Sonoran Preserve has more than 30,500 acres of perpetually preserved open space and is home to many species of animals, plants and birds. Choose the most appropriate hikes and trails for you and your dog’s level of physical activity (keep them leashed and bring plenty of water, too).

The Arizona Canal Path is a multi-use trail that runs through Peoria, Glendale, Phoenix and Scottsdale, and the section that meanders through Old Town is especially nice — including the Soleri Bridge and Plaza. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their humans, and some of the businesses along the path also welcome dogs.

Many of Scottsdale’s top hotels and resorts also welcome pets – click here to find the ideal accommodations for you and your four-legged friend.
